GORE LADIES’ CLUB. CLOSING OF SEASON. (From Our Correspondent.) The official closing of the Gore Ladies’ Golf Club took place yesterday afternoon, when a large number of members and friends assembled to take part in the pleasant social function held to mark the occasion. After so long a spell of unpleasant weather the club was fortunate in experiencing such favourable conditions under which to hold its closing competitions. For these some excellent trophies had been donated and were keenly competed for, the finishes in most cases being very close. At the conclusion of the competitions afternoon tea, provided by the members, was partaken of and formed a pleasant break. Mrs S. Inder, club captain, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors. The club, she stated, had come to the end of one of the most successful seasons it had had. During the season several friendly matches had been arranged with other clubs and in all of these the Gore Club had been successful. In addition to this weekly club matches “had been held and in these a larger number of members had taken part. Other competitions had been held and the club had been fortunate in having quite a number of excellent trophies donated for these games. This had added greatly to the interest taken in competition play and the club was under a debt of gratitude to the donors. On behalf of the club, she also desired to thank the president’s wife (Mrs R. Fisher) for kindly consenting to present the trophies at the closing function of the season. The club was also indebted to the secretary (Mrs J. M. Boyne) and to the assistant secretary (Mrs A. F. Houston) for ■their excellent services throughout the season. Presentation of Trophies. Mrs R. Fisher presented the trophies won during the season as follows: Senior Championship (silver cup)—Mrs R. Aitken. Junior Championship (silver cup presented by Mrs G. C. Hamilton)—Mrs T. L. Piller; runner-up, Miss M. Inder. C Grade Championship (trophy donated by Mrs R. Aitken) —Miss Gladys Gee; run-ner-up, Mrs Smith. L.G.U. Silver Medal—Mrs A. F. Houston. L.G.U. Bronze Medal—Mrs T. L. Piller. Knock-out Competition (trophy donated by Mrs T. L. Piller) —Mrs A. F. Houston. Knock-out Competition (trophy presented by Mrs L. C. Hawk) —Mrs T. L. Piller. Sealed Holed Match (trophy donated by Mrs L. C. Hawk)—Mrs Smith. Handicap Ringer Competition (trophy donated by Miss S. Inder) : Miss M. Inder. Silver Spoons for Winners of MedaJ Rounds—Miss S. Inder, Mrs J. Ritchie (2), Mrs Houston, Mrs T. L. Piller (2), Mrs Sinclair. The following members won golf balls, which -were presented during the season:— Miss I. Nicol, Mrs Miller, Mrs T. L. Piller, Miss J. Rogers, Miss G. Gee, Mrs A. F. Houston. Closing Competitions. Golf balls donated during the season by Mrs F. Wallis, sen., Mrs W. Kirk and Mrs J. Brown were won by Miss T. L. Piller, Miss Rogers and Mrs Houston. Driving Competition (trophy donated by Mrs Sutton) B Grade—Mrs J. Brown. Approaching Competition (trophies donated by Mrs J. A.
