HEDGEHOPE NEWS (From Our Correspondent.) A gift evening was tendered to Mrs V. Fraser (nee Miss M. Brown) by the residents of the district. Dancing was the order of the evening. Music was supplied by Messrs Adamson and George of Tussock Creek, extras being played by Mr R. Diamond, who also acted as M.C. After supper Mr J. Sanderson, on behalf of the residents of the district, asked Mrs Fraser to accept the numerous gifts as a token of the esteem in which she was held. Mr Fraser on behalf on his wife thanked those present for the kind remarks and many useful presents. Prior to her departure to Dunedin Miss M. Hanning was the guest of her many friends at a dance in the Hedgehope Hall on Friday evening. Amongst those present were: Mr and Mrs D. Young, Mr and Mrs C. Hanning, Mesdames South, Leebody. Evans, Potto, Kania, Diamond. Misses Evans, Leebody (3), South (2), Horton. Logan, Hanning (2), Hutchinson, McPherson, Diamond (2), Hamilton, Todd, Messrs Diamond (2), South (2), Mclntyre (2), Brown, Wilkes, Young (3), Hanning (3), Jukes, McDonald, Leebody (2), Horton, Evans (3). On Saturday evening the local railway staff gathered together to big farewell to Mr J. O’Neill, who is leaving the On Tuesday evening the Hedgehope and Glencoe Bible Classes entertained the Mabel Bush and Winton Bible Classes to a social evening in the Hedgehope Hall. Games and competitions were indulged in and Miss Hetherington gave a recitation. The local dairy factory commenced operations for the season of September 24.
