JERSEY CATTLE

THE GREAT COOPER SHIPMENT. SALE OF ARISTOCRATIC ANIMALS. (Special to the Times.) An event of Dominion wide interest took place at Wellington when 14 imported Jersey cattle were sold for sums that constitute a world’s record. The average price was 561 guineas or a total of £8,253 for the fourteen head. The cattle, which arrived at Wellington per steamer Pipiriki on July 7, were quarantined for a time on Quarantine Island. Tlie following prices were received per radio on Saturday evening:— The top price was realised by Oxford Beau’s Combination, a four-year-old bull, the purchase price being 2000 guineas. He was purchased by Mr A. P. Watkins, owner of the O.K. herd near Auckland. Oswald’s Victor, a three-year-old bull, realised 500 guineas. Raleigh’s Combination Lad also realised 500 guineas, and Oxford Beau’s Pretty Oxford was bought for 525 guineas. Tidy Prince You’ll Do proved to be the lowest priced bull, realising 325 guineas. Volunteer’s April Lady, 650. Xenia’s Derby Maid, 425. The Cid’s Pretty Jane, 360. The cattle were sold by Wright, Stephenson and Company, on behalf of T. S. Cooper and Sons, Lindon Grove, Coopersburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
