AMALGAMATION ANNOUNCED. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa, July 14. At Toronto an announcement was made by Mr. Robb, Minister of Finance, that 4ie consented to an agreement whereby the Canadian Bank of Commerce will purchase the assets of the Standard Bank of Canada. The amalgamation on a share for share basis brings the assets of the Bank of Commerce to approximately 700,000,000 dollars. The market value of the Bank of Commerce’s shares is 298 dollars and the Standard Bank’s 277. The par value is 100 dollars.—Australian Press Association.
