Major Beasey, the new divisional commander for the Salvation Army in Otago and Southland, accompanied by Mrs Beasey arrived in Gore on Saturday afternoon when they were tendered a welcome by the Mayor (Mr D. McDougall). Yesterday they conducted the services at the Gore Salvation Army citadel. At the monthly meeting of th" Southland Provincial Executive of the Farmers* Union on Saturday, it was decided to elect as life members of the union for the province Messrs Alexander Roy (Mossburn), Thomas Giller (South Invercargill), John Greenlees (Wyndham) and John Keen (Aparima).
