WYNDHAM GOSSIP (From Our Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs A. O. Henderson of Balfour are at present on a visit to relatives and friends in Wyndham. Mr and Mrs A. T. Ross, of the Dairy Factory House Wyndham left on Tuesday on a month’s holiday of the West Coast and Canterbury. Mrs A.C. Rowe, of the School House Wyndham, proceeded to Dunedin on Monday, where she will be joined by her father Mr Galbraith, en route for a holiday cruise of the South Sea Islands, sailing from Auckland at an early date. At the quarterly meeting of the Alma Lodge, No. 34, 1.0.0. F., Bro. W. A. Allison, P.D.D.G.M. was re-elected to his seat on the directorate of the Wyndham United Friendly Societies’ Dispensary. Mr. R. S. M. Milburn, of Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wyndham, has been transferred to the Invercargill office of the company, the vacancy having been filled by Mr. K. Connolly from the Invercargill staff. Mr. Richard Maddren, of Christchurch, is at present visiting the Wyndham District and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs H. Kiddey, Redan Wyndham. Mr. H. L. Palmer was a visitor to Dunedin during the week. Miss G. G. Wilson, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. A. Wilson, Ferry Street, Wyndham, has accepted a position on the Nursing staff of the Balclutha Hospital and commenced duties to-day. Mr and Mrs T. King, of Winton, were visitors to Wyndham during the week, proceeding to Wellington on Wednesday on annual holiday vacation. Mr and Mrs D. McClinchey, Cardiff, Taranaki, are at present visiting friends and relations in the district. Mr. Martin, Milton, brother of Mr. G. Martin, school master, Redan, is at present visiting Redan and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs T. Skinner. Miss E. K. Wilson, Messrs Sonderegger and Co.’s (Auckland) representative is at present visiting her parents Mr and Mrs A. A. Wilson, Ferry Street. Friends of Mr J. H. Galt, Tuturau, Wyndham, who has been confined to the Gore Hospital for some time, will be pleased to learn that he has regained health to such an extent as to be able to return home. At the conclusion of the Girl Guide meeting on Wednesday evening Miss G. G. Wilson, in view of her departure from the town, was met by the guides and made the recipient of a dainty crystal vase, as a memento of her association with the guides, and a token of their goodwill towards her. Mrs Miller, of Wellington, is at present visiting her sister in Wyndham, Mrs S. Richardson, Redan Street. Mr. Robert O’Brien, of Timaru, is at present visiting relatives in the district, being the guest of Mr and Mrs G. F. O’Brien, South Wyndham. Mrs Rastick, New Zealand Organizer for Messrs Sonderegger and Co., Auckland, paid a flying visit to Wyndham on Thursday on business, being the guest of Miss E. K. Wilson, Ferry Street. Mr. C. H. Williamson, Veterinary Surgeon, who until quite recently has practised his profession in Wyndham and surrounding districts, is now settled in Timaru, and engaged in practice there. Messrs W. Claringbold and R. Adamson, of the staff of the Clinton Hatcheries have been engaged during the past few days erecting traps in the Mimihau and Mariarua streams for the collection of trout ova. The Mimihau trap is at the rear of Mr. John McDonald’s place and is in charge of Mr. F. Prattley. BIVEBTONGOSSIP (From Our Correspondent). Miss E. Grey is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Grey, Wallacetown. Mrs. W. Ashley and family, South Riverton, have been visiting friends in Invercargill. Miss F. McKay, who was one of the successful competitors at the Winton competitions, has returned. Those present at the gift afternoon held by Mesdames McLean and Hayles, in aid of the Anglican Church funds, were: Mesdames McLean (2), R. Hayles, Davis, Jordan, B. Hancock, T. J. Price, Mclvor, J. A. Martin, McKay, Webb, Griffiths, Parkin, Spencer. Misses Robinson, Mills, Thomson. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Gee and Miss Gee were present at the birthday gathering of Miss Kelly, Gore, on Tuesday evening. Congratulations to Miss Clark, South Riverton, on gaining a place in the hockey team to represent Southland. Miss Linda Hamilton, Thornbury, has returned after an enjoyable holiday at Seaward Downs. The social evenings conducted by the Brass Band are very popular, and much enjoyed. Among those present at the last one were: Mesdames W. J. Winton, J. Duthie, J. King, D. Macdougall, Weir, Spencer (2), McLean, Hume, Aikinson, Gilchrist, Shaw. Misses Mills, White, Thomson, Woodward, Wright. Messrs. G. Simpson, J. Hymers, Macdougall, Matheson (2), Merrie, Weir (2), Henderson, Walker, McKay, Johnstone, Thomson, Crawford. Mrs. Shaw, Invercargill, is visiting her people, Mr. and Mrs. C. Trow, South Riverton. The engagement is announced of Miss Rena, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Berndtson, Havelock Street, to Mr. Douglas Little, formerly of Riverton, but now on the staff of the National Bank, Gore. Mrs. J. R. Reidie, Gropers’ Bush, is visiting her brother, Mr. T. R. Robertson, Clyde. Mrs. and Miss Henderson, Tapanui, are spending a holiday at the seaside. Mr. and Mrs. Muir Templeton were visited by members of the R.S.A., and congratulated on their marriage. They were also the recipients of suitable presents. Messrs. L. R. Jordan, J. A. Martin, R. Hayles, W. Trembath, R. Dickson, Cathcart, D. Jones, S. Mitchell and Parkin offered congratulations. Miss Warburton, Wellington, is spending a holiday with friends in the district. Mr. and Mrs. Miller, of Christchurch, and formerly residing here, are looking up old friends and acquaintances. Miss Clark, Invercargill, spent the weekend with friends at the seaside. Mrs. W. Brown, Bath Road, who has resided here for some time, has decided to take up her residence at Timaru, for health reasons. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mosley have taken up their residence at South Riverton. Mrs. J. Brass, who has been staying with Mrs. A. Gilchrist has left for her home at Makarewa. Mrs. Nicol, Ohai, has been staying with friends at the seaside. Mrs. George Pickett, Lyttelton, formerly a well-known resident here, where her husband was on the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Philp. The afternoon given by Mrs. Price in aid of the Xmas Tree, in connection with the Anglican Bazaar, which is to take place this month, proved a most successful one. Among the many present were the following: Mesdames McLean (2), Jordan, Mclvor, Martin (2), Berndtson, Scobie, Gordon, Hancock, Philp, Pickett (Lyttelton) Griffiths, Spencer, (2), Petchell, Webb, Grey, McKay, Armstrong, Ladbrook, Trail (2), Hunter.
