ANGLICAN CHURCH
DOCTRINE OF THE EUCHARIST. STATEMENT TO BE MADE. London, July 11. The Upper House Convocation of Canterbury by 18 votes to three on the motion of the Bishop of Gloucester agreed that a committee of bishops be appointed to draft a statement on the teaching of the Church of England upon the doctrine of the Eucharist. The Bishop of Oxford seconded. The Bishop of Norwich opposed the measure, urging that it would be unwise at a time of bitter controversy to start discussions on holy mysteries. The Primate moved that the bishops of the northern province should be urged to join the committee, which was agreed to. — Australian Press Association. ARCHBISHOP’S RETIREMENT. London, July 11.
