CRICKET
ENGLISHMEN FOR AUSTRALIA. (Rec. 1.25 a.m.) London, July 1. The Observer’s special cricket writer discussing the team for Australia predicts thirteen certainties as follows: —Jardine (captain), Jupp, Wyatt, Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Hallows, Tyldesley, Hammond, Tate, Smith, Larwood, Nichols, and Leyland. It objects to Chapman for the captaincy because he lacks the necessary touch of genius.— Australian Press Association.
