OHAI NOTES
CHURCH CONCERT. (From Our Correspondent.) A concert was held in the Ohai Public Hall on Wednesday evening in aid of.the Ohai Methodist Church, when a good attendance was present from the surrounding districts. The programme, an enjoyable one, was carried out by performers from Riverton and Ohai, with members of the Choral Society taking part. The singing was nicely rendered, every item receiving an encore. Mr W. Cockburn provided a great deal of amusement with several humorous monologues. An item which was well applauded was supplied by Mr A. H. Kilburnie with the English concertina. Miss Evelyn Howd acted as pianist. The opening chorus was sung by the Riverton Party, viz., Miss L. Joyce, Mrs Ramage, Mr and Mrs Prosser and Mr W. Cockburn, followed by a solo by Mrs Prosser; comic song, Mr A. Dixon; male quartette, Ohai Party, Messrs T. Smith, T. Tiplady, J. Smeaton, J. Hornby; monologue, Mr W. Cockburn; solo, Miss L. Joyce; violin duet, Messrs D. Nichol and W. Cockburn; solo, Mrs Ramage; duet, Mr and Mrs Prosser;
quartette, Miss L. Joyce, Mr W. Cockburn, Mr and Mrs Prosser; solo, Mr A. Raffle; solo, Miss N. Marshall; solo, Mr J. Hornby; violin solo, Mr W. Cockburn; solo, Mr A. Raffle; selection, English concertina, Mr A. H. Kilbirnie.
At the conclusion the Rev. R. Jamieson called for a hearty vote of thanks to all who had offered their services for the evening’s entertainment, which was well accorded.
The secretary (Mr J. Thomson), of the Ohai branch of the St. John Ambulance Association, reports that he has received information to the effect -that the final examination of all enrolled members will take place on July 4 in the Ohai Public Hall at 7 p.m. It is hoped that a full muster will be present.
