Of the nine mares bred to Drusus before he left America his gets have five performances recorded, El Verso a world’s champion, holder of the world’s race record for nine furlongs 2.25. In a nine furlong contest on a half-mile track El Verso won his first heat in 2.25$ and thirty minutes later won his second heat in 2.25. El Verso, three years, 2.55, Hal McKinney, three years, 2.95, El Verso Maid, three years, 2.14$ (on ice) and Lone Star 2.165. Fair Virginia 2.75, a full sister to Drusus, is the dam of the pacer Berry the Great, 3 years, 2.05, and Erda, another full sister, is the dam of Lady Ester, trotter, 2 years, 2.13. That Drusus, 2.95, comes from a family that are breeding on these, performances must convince. Drusus is a rich seal-brown horse, a perfect pacer. Has never worn boots, hopples or any fancy rigging.
