REMAND GRANTED

WEST AUSTRALIAN MURDER. STATEMENT BY VICTIM’S WIFE. Perth, June 26. Clifford Hulme, charged with murder, has been remanded for eight days. Mrs Smith, who has improved, stated that her husband was shot dead on Friday afternoon, the employee stating he had fallen from a tractor and been killed. She wanted to rush to the spot when the same employee sympathetically persuaded her to remain in the house, immediately after which he punched her face and body unmercifully and secured her with ropes to the bed-post. He assaulted her and then attacked other members of the family. The baby is recovering. The six-year-old girl is still in a critical condition.—Australian Press Association.
