An Oamaru coal merchant recently discovered in some coal in his yard a live No. 6 commercial detonator, with a length of fuse attached. The discovery of live detonators in household coal at Oamaru is, fortunately, very rare. A meeting of the committee of the Gore Poultry Association was held in Mr Wylie’s office on Thursday evening, Mr G. Wallace presiding over a good attendance. The secretary reported that 10 new members had been added to the roll. It was decided to hold the annual show on July 27 and 28, and the schedule will be issued in a few days. It was stated that a silver cup and silver rose bowl would be amongst the prizes awarded at the show. A special prize from Messrs Fleming and Co. would also be amongst the prize trophies. A quantity of routine correspondence was dealt with.
