SEQUEL TO A RESCUE
MEN SAVED BY STEAMER. DIVE INTO HARBOUR AGAIN. There was an amazing sequel to the rescue by the Sydney ferry steamer Kanimbla last week of three men whose skiff had overturned in the harbour off George’s Point. The Kanimbla, which was proceeding to Sydney from Balmoral, stopped when she noticed the three men struggling in the water. They were brought aboard in a shivering condition. They immediately inquired whether the ferry would tow in their skiff. This was a 16-footer, and the master of the Kanimbla explained that he could not bring it in. It was at this instant that one of the men sighted a launch approaching. He called his two companions, a whispered colloquy was held, and, without stopping to consult the master, the’ three men dived overboard and swam to the oncoming launch. They were taken aboard, and after the skiff was righted the three men boarded it. The two boats then set out for Clifton Gardens.
