THEATRICAL COSTUMES DESTROYED. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, January 25. A fire in Mr. T. de Spong’s theatrical studio in lower Stuart street last evening destroyed sets of theatrical costumes valued at many thousands and reputed to be the most valuable set in Australia or New Zealand. One set destroyed was the original costumes purchased by the late Tom Pollard for his production “The Forty Thieves.” All the Shakespearian costumes were destroyed also. The insurance was only £lOOO.
