(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, June 19 The leading events of the V.A.T.C’s meeting on Saturday resulted as follows: MINOOK TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP (seven furlongs)—E. A. Connolly’s Dark Man 8.4, 1; Laity 8.6, 2; Phoebus 7.0, 3. Twelve started. Won by two lengths. Time, Imin 294 secs. CAMBREA WELTER HANDICAP (one mile and a furlong)—Homerus 9.2, 1; Affirm 9.11, 2; Furcroft 8.5, 3. Fourteen started. Won by a length. Time, lmin 55| secs. During the running of the Toolambool Hurdles, Mount Elsa and Bernbanks fell and were killed. THE TURF IN SYDNEY. RACING AT CANTERBURY PARK. A MAORILANDER PLACED THIRD. At the Canterbury Park races on Saturday the Flying Handicap (six furlongs) resulted:—Cadenza, by Valais—Carmenita, syrs, 7.9, 1; Midwinter 7.8, 2; Clarus 7.8, 3. Ten started. Won by a length and aquarter. Time, lmin 16secs.
