AUSTRALIAN FINANCES

MR. BRUCE’S PROPOSALS. NEW SCHEME WELL RECEIVED IN LONDON. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, June 18. The news that the Premiers’ Conference accepted Mr. Bruce’s proposals regarding the Commonwealth and State financial relation has given great satisfaction in city circles, especially to people interested.in Australian loans. So far there has been little Press comment, but what there has been is decidedly favourable. For instance, the Daily Telegraph writing before the acceptance was known, says: “There is no gainsaying the bold character of the proposals, and if anything like them is carried into effect, the result, so far as Australia’s credit in London is concerned, will undoubtedly be beneficial, and will assist the Federal and States’ Governments in financial operations.” —A. and N.Z.
