COASTAL STEAMERS BUFFETED. FERRY STEAMER DELAYED. (Per United Press Association.) Lyttelton, June 19. Steamers arriving at Lyttelton to-day met an exceptionally strong southerly gale with heavy seas. The weather was bitterly cold, sleet and snow falling. All vessels were severely buffeted by tremendous head seas. The Ferry steamer Manuka did not arrive until one o’clock. She met the full violence of the gale until off Kaikoura, after which she made better time. The cargo steamer Foyle arrived in the afternoon after a passage of 25 hours.
