FARMER’S SUICIDE. (Per United Pre.ss Association.) Auckland, May 5. At the inquest on George Thomas Hyslop, aged 60, whose body was found in the harbour on March 10, the evidence disclosed that a post mortem revealed a bullet wound in the right temple. He was a cabinetmaker by trade, but until recently had a farm at Okahu which had not been a success and had to be abandoned. Smoke stains showed that the bullet, was fired at close range. A verdict of suicide was returned. YOUTH’S MISHAP. Wellington, May 5. A youth named Fred Tretheway, residing at Nelson street, Petone, met with a rather painful accident during his work. He was engaged cutting some wire when the knife slipped and gashed one of his eyes. He was removed- to the hospital immediately but it was found necessary to remove the eye. * His condition is reported as favourable to-night.
