NATIVES CONVICTED
BREACHES OF LICENSING ACT. (Per United Press Association.) Teawamutu, May 5. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day a native, Charles Manu, was fined £lO for drunkenness while in charge of a motor lorry. James Smith was fined £2 for being on licensed premises after hours and £2 for giving a false name when questioned by the police. David Edward Barnhill was fined £3 for supplying liquor to Kura Ngata, who was also fined £3 for selling liquor to another native, Tako Tewa, who was fined £25 for counselling Ngata to obtain liquor. Eileen Kerr, licensee of the Alpha Hotel, Kihikihi, was fined £lO. for supplj-ing the liquor to the native concerned in these prosecutions.
