ROYAL TOUR

VISIT TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Adelaide, May 5. The Duke and Duchess of York continue to have a busy time. The Duke attended a reception at the University where a Doctorship of Laws was conferred upon him and the Duchess was the guest of the National Council of Women at the Town Hall. In the afternoon the Royalties were present at the Adelaide Cup meeting. The Duke failed to pick the winner in the Adelaide Cup, but was more fortunate in the Duke of York Stakes. In the evening they were the guests of the citizens’ ball in the Exhibition Building. Everywhere big crowds gave enthusiastic welcome. To-day they leave on a private \gisit to the country, along with 500 guests from all parts of the Commonwealth invited to official ceremonies. They arrive by special train at Canberra on Sunday.—-A. &. N.Z. SYDNEY’S LABOUR MAYOR. UNION RESOLUTION WITHDRAWN. (Rec. 7 p.m.) Sydney, May 5. The meeting of the Electrical Trades Union expunged the resolution favouring the suspension of the Lord Mayor, Mr Moyston, from the organisation, in connection with his welcome to the Duke and Duchess of York. Mr Moyston, heard in defence, said he was not ashamed of his administration as Lord Mayor, and he considered the attempt to suspend him was part of a scheme to deliver the City Council into the hands of Labour’s enemies. The motion to expunge the resolution was carried by an overwhelming majority.—A. and N.Z. . ‘ ‘ Mr Moyston is secreatrj 7 of the Electrical Trades Union.
