ENGINEERING DISPUTE
DEADLOCK IN CLYDE STRIKE. (Rec. 7.45 p.m.) Sydney, April 5. A deadlock has been reached in connection with the Clyde engineering strike, the management refusing the shop committee’s request for a conference, stating that they have no quarrel with the men, but refused to treat with the committee when no dispute existed. Meanwhile the men are losing £l4OO per day in wages. It is expected that the men will now endeavour to secure the intervention of the Trades and Labour Council.—A. and N.Z.
