Dr Kidd, medical superintendent of Waipiata Sanatorium, has been on a brief visit to Winton.

Mr W. I. Hessell, District Traffic Manager, returned from the north by the late express yesterday. Dr Ritchie, of Samoa, and son of Mr T. Ritchie, formerly of Winton, was a visitor to Winton last week. Rev. Father Goodman, of Sydney, is at present holding a week’s mission in the Catholic Church, Winton. Mr W. E. Reynolds, a member of the Dairy Produce Board, left Dunedin for Wellington by yesterday morning’s second express.

Dr T. Ritchie, chief medical officer of Samoa, who was in Dunedin for the Medical Congress, departed northwards yesterday morning on his return to Samoa. Mr H. L. McKinnon, at present assistant at the Waihopai School, received word yesterday that he had been successful in the final portion of the B.A. examinations.

In the Supreme Court on Tuesday before his Honour Mr Justice Reed, Mr Peter Gilfedder, of Invercargill, was admitted as a barrister on the motion of Mr W. A. Stout. Dr D. McCarthy and Mrs McCarthy (nee Robertson. Tapanui), who have been residing at Tokanui for some little time, left Dunedin on Saturday morning, en route for East Africa, to settle there.

Captain L. C. H. Worrall and Mr F. W. He was accompanied by Mrs Curzon-Siggers. The resignation of Dr H. P. Pickerill as Dean of the Dental Faculty of the University of Otago has been accepted by the Otago University Council, to take effect as from the end of July next, states a Dunedin Press Association message. Dr Pickerill will probably open a private practice in Sydney. Mr H. J. Middleton, president of the South Island Dairy Association, started from Dunedin for Wellington yesterday morning to attend a meeting of the New Zealand Produce Marketing Association, of which he is also a member. Mr G. A. Lamb, secretary of the South Island Dairy Association, journeyed to Wellington for a similar purpose. Mr C. J. Wood, secretary of the Balclutha Fire Brigade, passed through Dunedin yesterday morning on his way to the Dominion Fire Brigades’ Conference at Gisborne. Another delegate to the conference was a passenger by the through express, Mr Andrew Martin, of Gore, being a past president of the United Fire Brigades’ Association.—Evening Star.
