Attention was drawn some days ago by a correspondent to the Post, Wellington, to the hours worked by nurses in private hospitals, it being stated that they average about sixty-three hours per week. Reply- 1 ing to inquiries to a Post reporter, a mem- 1 ber of the Wellington Trained Nurses’ As- I sociation said that her hours averaged more | like eighty-four per week. The rules of the i association state that a nurse is to have * eight hours’ rest and two hours at- least | daily for exercise, when the patient can conveniently be left. Frequently the patient 1 cannot conveniently be left and the nurse’s 1 he’v-s expand to from iwelve a dav upwards. !
