LAND SETTLEMENT
THE GROUP SYSTEM. SUCCESS IN WEST AUSTRALIA. (Per United Press Association ) Wellington, December 2. Mr J. S. Dickson, M.P., who was one of the New Zealand rer.resentatives on the Imperial Parliamentary Delegation and who has just returned from Australia says the Western Australian system of opening «up and settling land on the group system is proving most satisfactory. That it is sd is due to the generous terms offered by the Government.
Mr Dickson says he was a bit disappointed at the attitude of the British section of the delegation. Their principal object, he says, seemed to be to have the secondary industries in Australia done away with, thus allowing Britain to manufacture Australia’s requirements while that country concentrated on supplying Britain with raw material. This idea did not meet with much encouragement in Australia.
