OLD MAN INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Pahiatua, November 30. Alexander Gibson, aged 83, was admitted to the public hospital. He slipped on the concrete in the backyard at his home at Ballance and fractured his thigh. GORED BY A COW. Dunedin, November 30. A little boy named Alexander Mcßae, aged 5, who resides with his parents at Henley, was admitted to the hospital at 8.45 p.m. to-day suffering from injuries to the forehead caused by being gored by a cow. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Auckland, November 30. Clement Archibald Hulse, aged 25, was knocked down by a motor car in the city to-day and sustained a fractured skull. FOUND DROWNED IN CREEK. Whangarei, December 1. Thomas Forsyth, aged 50, a single man and a retired farmer, w r as found dead in a creek near Whangarei Fall’s bridge yesterday. Only the head and shoulders were submerged in 13 inches of water. Deceased’s coat and two walking sticks were near in a position that suggested that he collapsed when stooping to obtain a drink from the stream. A gold watch and chain, cash amounting to over £6, and a cheque for £l7 were in the pockets of the clothing. Though drowning was first supposed marks on the neck as though they were made by a rope were observed when the body was examined at the morgue. Forsyth had suffered from acute rheumatism for a number of years and had to rely on walking sticks when moving about. He was last seen alive on Monday, but no anxiety was felt, it being thought that he was visiting relatives.

The inquest opened this morning, but was adjourned for a week in view of the complicated circumstances.

FARMER BADLY BURNED. Te Awamutu, December 1. A farmer at Tekawa named A. J. Mold, was badly burned about the arms during the night when drawing some benzine from the tank of ,his motor lorry to oblige a passing motorist who had run short. While the benzene was being drawn off, the man standing by struck a match and the fumes exploded, lire lorry caught fire and the garage was in danger of destruction until all present smothered the flames. Mr Mold was brought in to Te Awamutu for surgical attention.
