GRUESOME MOVIES
OPERATIONS TO BE FILMED. DISSEMINATING MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE. (Rec. 5.5 pjn.) New York, October 30. The Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress adopted a plan by which motion pictures and also the talking film will be used to record intricate operations performed by skilled surgeons in London, Paris, Vienna and New York. The films will be distributed to doctors everywhere and powerful lights on the cameras will record every move in the coldest details. The surgeon’s voice will also be recorded, explaining the methods and reasons for them. In a like manner the progress of diseases over a period of months can be shown in a few minutes. The Board of Regents appointed a committee to start immediately working out details of the plans. Educational pictures for laymen will also be considered.—A. and N.Z.
