BEAM WIRELESS
DOUBTS IN AUSTRALIA. BRITISH EXPERTS SURPRISED. London, October 29. Wireless authorities here are most surprised at the report from the Australian Postmaster-General that the secretary, Mr Brown, suggested that the beam service is doomed to failure. The British Post Office expresses amazement at the success and possibilities of the system, calling attention to the unexpectedly rapid transmission to Canada, while difficulties like the Aurora Borealis were not present in the Australian service.—A. & N.Z. MARCONI HANDS OVER DOMINIONS TRAFFIC. London, October 29. Marconi has handed the whole of the dominions’ wireless traffic to the Post Office, which is receiving messages for Australia and New Zealand per wireless to Montreal, thence via the Pacific cable. Matter lodged at Press rates in London is now being handled by sub-editors at Montreal in less than half an hour.—A. & N.Z.
