STOCK OF HIGH STANDARD. CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS. (Per United Press Association.) Tinwu, October 28. The Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Show to-day was marred by heavy rain. The entries totalled 1,543 compared with 1,301 last year. The quality of the stock all through was of a high standard. The sheep were specially good and the Corriedales and English Leicesteis the best ever seen at a Timaru Show. The championships were as follows: Merino: Strong combing ram, D. Grant; fine combing ram, G. Murray; reserve, F. H. Smith; ewe, F. H. Smith; reserve, G. Murray. English Leicester: Ram, R. and J. Reid; ewe, W. J. Kelland; reserve, W. Letham. Border Leicester: Ram, H. Ruddenkiau; reserve, R. J. Ix>w; ewe, R. J. Low; reserve, H. Ruddonklau. Romney Marsh: Ram, D. Grant; reserve, C. H. Johnstone; ewe, C. H. Johnstone. Southdown: Ram and ewe, J. H. Grigg. Suffolk Downs: Ewe, Cargo Bros. Ryeland: Ram, F. Hayhurst; reserve, B. Witbell; ewe, B. Withell; reserve, F. Hayhurst. Corriedale: Ram, R. and J. Reid; ewe, J. W. The Rhodes Hunt Challenge- Cup was won by the Brackenfield BuntCattle: Shorthorn bull and cow, H. C. Barton. Friesian bull, J. H. Grigg; cow, T. Sheriff. Jersey bull, S. Dale; cow, R. Maddren. The Holme Station Cup for cow with greatest quantity of butter-fat above requirements for certificate of record under the Department of Agriculture was won by G. T. Sherriff with a Friesian' cow, whose yield was 22,5991 b milk and 7541 b fat—4&4JK above recpiKemente.
