TRAMPERS MISSING
BOY AND TWO WOMEN. ANXIETY FELT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, October 27. Some anxiety is being felt regarding two Wellington ladies, Mesdames B. Roberts and A. Fuge, and a boy, Max Roberts, aged 12, who left on Saturday afternoon with Mr R. Roberts, intending to tramp across the mountains from the Otaki Gorge. On arriving at Otaki the party parked their car and went to Fields Hut, on Mount Hector. The track was very muddy and slippery owing to the drift of snow in parts, so on arrival at the hut it was arranged that Roberts should go to Kaitoke next morning, the womenfolk and the boy to remain in the hut and return to the car on Monday morning. Roberts got through to Kaitoke yesterday, but the other members of the party failed to put in an appearance at the car. A search party set out for the hut, where it is hoped that the ladies have remained. There is plenty of firewood and water, and generally some rations are available.
