EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS
REGISTERED IN AUSTRALIA. (Rec. 8.10 pan.) Sydney, October 27. A violent earthquake 2,025 miles to the north of Australia was recorded at the Riverview observatory. Five minutes later another shock registered so strongly that the instruments were upset. Still later there were five or six slighter shocks.—A. and N.Z.
