Heavy rain set in at the Port yesterday afternoon and stopped work at the Willesden, which will not be able to sail until to-day. The Theresa Ward made her weekly trip to Stewart Island yesterday with a fair complement of passengers, including a number of men for the Ross Sea whaling fleet. The Ross Sea whaling steamer, Sir James Clark Ross, should arrive at Patterson’s Inlet on Saturday from Port Chalmers. The Whangape was scheduled to leave Sydney yesterday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Timaru. She should arrive about November 1 or 2. Advice has been received that the Waitomo has left Newcastle for Hobart to load timber for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Oamani and Bluff. The date of the vessel's arrival here is indefinite, but she should probably berth about November 15. The Shaw-Savill steamer Mamari, which will commence Homeward loading at Bluff about November 27, is at present laid up in Port Chalmers. After leaving Bluff the Mamari will proceed to northern ports and will complete loading at Port Chalmers, sailing finally for London about December 17. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
