EMPIRE PARLIAMENTS

DELEGATES’ TOUR OF TASMANIA. Hobart, October 26. The Empire Parliamentary Delegation has concluded its tour of Tasmania at Launceston. The Hon. John Barr (New Zealand), supporting the Marquis of Salisbury in an expression of thanks for the splendid reception accorded the delegates, said the Tasmanian trip had been delightful, especially a visit to the Great Lake, from which he understood much of the future wealth of Launceston in the matter of hydro-electricity would be obtained. The United Kingdom was a small place, but carried big forces in the affairs of the world. Their great objective was to work for securing world peace, and that could only bo done by having unity amongst nations, such as they never had before. They did not want to hear the war trumpets sounded again. Mr Barr congratulated the people of the State upon their steadfastness.—A. & N.Z.
