PERTH MURDER
INQUEST ON BANK CLERK. RENNIE COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Perth, June 16. At the inquest concerning the death of John Roger Greville, the Coroner returned a verdict of wilful murder against Royston Rennie, whom he committed for trial. It is stated that Rennie confessed to having committed the crime.—A. and N.Z. A recent cable states: While two bank clerks were taking money from a suburb of Maylands to Perth by train on June 4, one of them, J. R. Greville, aged 22, was suddenly shot by a third man in the same compartment. The man then tried to shoot the other clerk; Douglas Favis, but his revolver jammed, and he hit Favis heavily on the head with the butt end of it. When the train arrived at Perth the man jumped out on the wrong side of the carriage, taking the money, amounting to £174, with him. Greville was sent with all haste to hospital, but died an hour later. Later Rennie was arrested.
