GOULBOURN SENSATION

ARMED MAN RE-APPEARS) FARMER SHOT AT. (Rec. 8.5 p.m.) Sydney, June 15. The armed man re-appeared 30 miles from Collector and accosted a farmer driving on a lonely road. The farmer, noticing the man was armed, drove on. The man fired three shots after him, none, however, taking effect. A strong force of police is scouring the bush.—A. and N.Z. A cable received June 7 states: While motoring along a road near the township of Collector, about 2 miles from Goulburn, a commercial traveller was called on to pull up by a man on the road. He did so, but as he could get no sense out of the man he presumed he was intoxicated and drove on. Before he proceeded many yards a shot was fired and a bullet passed through the hood of the car and whizzed over the traveller’s head. The traveller informed the police at Collector and, with a constable, returned to the spot where he had been stopped. Both entered the scrub adjoining the road, when they were startled by the report of a firearm and a bullet passed through the sleeve of the constable’s tunic, and a flash appeared about 40 yards away. The two then returned to Collector for additional police, and a black tracker is being sent from Goulburn to assist in the search.
