BLUFF NOTES

SOCIAL AND EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. (From Our Correspondent.) . The annual social and euchre tournament of the Star of Bluff Lodge. Independent Order of Oddfellows, was held in the Drill Hall on Monday night. Special attractions had been provided by the organising secretary, Bro. D. Miller, and there was an attendance of 153 couples. The hall had been decorated with fernery and the coloured lighting from decorated lanterns enhanced the effect. The Grand March was led by P.G. Bro. W. McGorlick and Mrs Macdonald. Bigwood’s orchestra provided the music and Mr Denton catered with his usual efficiency. Mr W. Macdonald was M.C. Prizes for the hidden treasure dance were won by Miss Newton and Mr Wixon; for the hats on waltz, out of 51 competitors, Miss Parry and partner were the winners; for the speed-up waltz Mr Dowler and partner were awarded the prize. Substantial prizes were provided for the euchre tournament and they were won by the following: Ladies—Mrs Richardson 1, Mrs Robinson 2, Mrs Kirkwood 3, Mrs T. W. Walker 4, Miss Johansen 5; gentlemen— Mr M. McTigue 1, Mr E. Spencer 2, Mr H. Newton 3, Mr G. Moore 4, Mr E. Tall 5. There is on view in the window of Mr R. Harris’s shop at Bluff, a new simplex motion picture projector—the only one of its kind in the South Island —which has been acquired for the Bluff Picture and Amusement Company. The projector is fitted with all sorts of adjustments designed to bring to perfection the exhibition of motion pictures and the company is to be commended for its enterprise in acquiring
