AUSTRALIAN STRIKE CONFERENCE EFFECTS SETTLEMENT TERMS YET TO BE RATIFIED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Rec. 8.10 p.m.) Sydney, June 14. The compulsory conference has arrived at a settlement of the coal strike.—A. & N.Z. THE TERMS OUTLINED. AN INDUSTRY-PARALYSING STRIKE. (Rec. 10.10 p.m.) Sydney, June 14. The terms of settlement of the coal strike which have to be ratified by aggregate meetings of the men are:— (1) Employees to resume on the prestrike basis. (2) Owners to reinstate all employees presenting themselves for work and (3) all collieries to resume on same day. (4/ Owners to abandon legal proceedings against the union and union officials. Mr Hibble stated that if these terms were agreed to he would immediately summon the Coal Tribunal to hear the men’s claims. The owners agreed and the employees’ representatives stated they would place the terms before aggregate meetings of the men to-morrow (Wednesday) and report back to the conference on Thursday. The meetings are certain to ratify the settlement, terminating a strike which has paralysed industry throughout the Commonwealth.—A. <fc N.Z.
