MILSON PHOTOGRAPHS

A Unique collection. EXHIBITION IN MUSEUM HALL. Mrs A. G. Milson’s collection of pictorial photographs, at present on exhibition at the Museum Hall, have been arousing great interest among the amateurs of Invercargill. To the uninitiated it conies as a revelation to find that such effects as those on exhibition lie within the scope of the camera. Though limited to 98 pictures, the collection secured by Mrs Milson is the best all round that has ever been shown in New Zealand, and the Invercargill Camera Club is to be congratulated in securing them, thus affording the public an opportunity of viewing the works of master artists. The exhibition was open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and large crowds took advantage of the quiet week-end to spend an hour or two among the pictures. The collection is particularly strong in landscapes and marine pictures. There are some striking street scenes, but every individual picture reveals something with which the ordinary “snap-taker” itf not conversant. Nothing but good can result from the exhibition, as it enables the local workers to see and study the best efforts of the leaders in pictorial photography abroad. Readers are reminded that to-night is their last chance of viewing this collection. It will be open to the public again this afternoon from 2.30 to 9.30, after which the pictures will be sent on to Christchurch.
