MOTOR VEHICLES

WORK OF RE-LICENSING. If the present rate of progress in the re-licensing of motor vehicles is an indication of the number of owners who will daily attend to the matter, the police will have a busy time very shortly. Inquiries at the Chief Post Office show that owners are not displaying much interest in the matter, and, although the new number plates have been available for several days, less than 150 have been issued. Since the first registration and licensing was dealt with last year, it has been found that a large number of owners supplied incorrect information regarding their vehicles, and during the re-licensing, an effort is being made to obtain an exact description of each vehicle. The motto of the department appears to be, “Man, know thy car,” and it is safe to say that, after completing the relicensing, many of the owners will have added something to their knowledge in respect of the vehicles they own.’ None but the new black and white number plates will be allowed on the road after May 14, but. motorists can materially assist the Postal Department in handling a big business by making early application for their plates and producing their certificates.
