FOOTBALL CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) The annual general meeting of the Riverton Football Club was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening, when there were about 30 present, Mr J. A. Martin presiding. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The report and balance-sheet was read as follows: The committee have great pleasure in presenting the 52nd annual report and bal-ance-sheet and, in doing so, congratulate the club on the season’s play. The club entered senior and junior grade teams in the Western District competition. The junior fifteen have to be congratulated on being the winners of their competition, play’no--12 matches, winning 9, drawing two and losing one. They have won the cup tor three seasons and are now the holders. The senior team found it hard to place a team on the field at the beginning of the season, but improved at the latter end of the season. Twelve matches were played, three won and nine lost. The members sincerely thank Messrs D. Ross and J. Rose for attending the meetings of the Western District Sub-Union, Messrs J. Rose and Cassels for refereeing, Messrs E. Richardson, K. Keen and J. Kenneally for running several dances, which were a great benefit to the club. The receipts amounted to £52 3/2, expenditure £34 13/7, leaving a credit balance of £l7 1/7.

Before moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, .the chairman said he was pleased to see such an enthusiastic meeting, which spoke well for the great interest taken in football. Last season had been a fairly successful one, and he congratulated the junior team on having won the banner and the cup. It was pleasing to know that the cup, having been won now by Riverton three times, is now their own possession. The senior fifteen, however, experienced difficulty at the commencement of the season in securing their regular players, owing to many residing outside the town. Still, they gave a good account of themselves. He had to thank them all sincerely for the hearty support accorded him during his term of office, and special praise was due Messrs D. Ross and J. Rose, the delegates on the Western District Union, for the time and attention given in that direction. Messrs Richardson, Kennealley and Kean had also loyally assisted in the way of entertainments, having raised about £l5, which went to the general funds. In conclusion, he hoped that the teams would give more attention to training and turning up regularly to practice. ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS. The retiring president did not seek reelection, and the following were appointed: President, Mr D. Ross; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Richardson, W. Hawke, J. A. Martin, C. Parkin, C. de Clifford, H. Guest, E. A. Trail, C. J. Butler, J. J. Hodgson, W. Smyth, F. Webb, W. Thomson; B. C. Hancock, Alexander Stevens, S. L. McNeill, J. A. McKinnon, J. Milligan, G. Kerse, C. A. Robertson, E. Black, H. Helm, W. Scobie and A. E. Willett. Captain of Seniors: G. McNaughton; deputy-captain, C. Beer. General Committee: Messrs W. Hawke, E. King, J. A. Martin, A. Mills, G. Kennealley, C. Parkin, E. Richardson and J. Rose. Selection Committee: Captain, deputycaptain, E. Richardson and captain of juniors, who will be appointed after the first match. Ground Committee: Messrs Martin, Rose, McNaughton and Parkin. Secretary and treasurer: Mr C. Cassels. Delegates to Western District Sub-Union: Messrs D. Ross and J. Rose. Referees: Messrs John Rose, E. Richardson and C. Parkin.
