ADDINGTON MARKET. RECORD ENTRY OF SHEEP. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, Mar. 17. There was a record entry of sheep at Addington to-day, the total being about 50,000. Of this number quite 40,000 were in the store sheep pens, the North Island being a heavy contributor with ewes. STORE SHEEP. In spite of the exceptionally heavy entry there was a good sale of all classes of store sheep, particularly crossbred ewes of good quality and forward lambs. The northern ewes were better sorts than usual and sold at an advance. Passings were very few: forward rape lambs 21/6 to 23/3; medium lambs 19/- to 21/-; small crossbred lambs 15/3 to 18/9; inferior lambs 14/- to 15/-; crossbred ewe lambs 20/6 to 23/6; halfbred ewe lambs 23/8; good two-tooth crossbred ewes to 3//3 two-tooth halfbred ewes 30/- to 39/-; good two-tooth threequarterbred ewes to 39/6; four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes 27/6 to 32/6; low conditioned 4, 6 and 8-tooth crossbred ewes 21/- to 25/6: four and five-year-old local crossbred ewes 24/- to 29/-; failing mouthed halfbred ewes 18/6 to 21/-; failing mouthed crossbred ewes 16/6 to 20/6; 4,6, and 8-toot.hed wethers 20/6 to 25/-; two-toothed wethers 20/- to 23/6. FAT LAMBS. Just on 3000 entered. An advance of 1/- to 1/6 a head, values being, if anything, in excess of schedule prices. Extra heavy prime lambs to 31/6; heavy prime 28/- to 30/-; medium weight 26/6 to 28/6; light inferior 24/- to 26/-; rough sorts 18/6 to 22/-. FAT SHEEP. An average entry, mostly of ewes, and a slightly easier sale, export values being on the schedule basis. Extra prime wethers 33/- to 37/1; prime wethers 29/6 to 32/6; medium wethers 26/3 to 29/-; light wethers 24/6 to 26/-; extra prime ewes to 26/- to 32/4; prime ewes 23/- to 25/6; medium ewes 19/6 to 22/6; light ewes 16/6 to 19/-; aged ewes 13/- to 16/-. FAT CATTLE. A big entry of 590 head. Values were down on last week by up to 20/- per head for heavy beef, but medium quality sold at little difference. A Masterton line of 28 steers made from £l5 12/6 to £lB 12/6, and a South Otago draft of 12 from £l5 12/6 to £lB. Best local steers made to £lB 12/6; extra heavy steers to £lB 12/6; heavy steers £l4 to £l6 10/-; prime medium weight steers £l3 to £l6; medium quality steers £9 10/- to £l2 10/-; light steers £5 12/6 to £9; extra heavy heifers to £l3 17/6; prime heifers £8 to £lO 10/-; ordinary heifers £6 to £7 17/6; light heifers £4 10/- to £5 15/-; extra heavy cows to £l2 12/6; prime cows £7 5/- to £10; medium cows £5 5/- to £7 2/6; light cows £4 5/to £5 2/6; rough cows £3 10/- to £4. VEALERS. A drop in prices due to an over supply. Runners to £7 2/6. STORE CATTLE. A poor outfit. Five-year-old steers to £9 10/-; three-year-old steers to £7 17/6; cows 15/- to £3 10/-. DAIRY CATTLE. Best springers £8 to £l2 10/-; others £3 to £7 10/-; best springing heifers £8 to £l3 ; others £4 to £7 5/-. FAT PIGS. A jump up in price. Choppers £4 to £8; baconers £4 5/- to £6 15/-; average price per lb 9d to lOd; porkers 55/- to 78/-; average per lb 94d to 104 d. STORE PIGS. Good stores sold well, slips and weaners being easier.
