PLUNKET SOCIETY
GORE BRANCH. (From our Correspondent.) A special meeting of the Gore Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Rest Rooms, Irk street, on Thursday evening. Those present were: Mesdames H. C. MacGibbon (President), C. R. Green, D. M. Cochrane, R. Hamilton, J. Harper, H. Parata, and the secretary, Mrs E. G. Wilson. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames G. Finlayson and D. A. Dunn. Telegrams were received from Sir Truby King stating that December 8 was the only available date on which he could visit Gore for the opening of the new Rest Rooms and that entirely new and extraordinarily interesting information would be available. It was reported that Mr A. Crawford had generously consented to give the Princess Theatre and the services of the operator at a reduced charge for the film lecture. The ceremony to be held in connection with the opening of the new Rest Rooms was discussed and it was decided to advertise the programme at a later date. The furnishing of the new rooms was also discussed and arrangments are being made to have it quite in keeping with the new buildings. Arrangements were also made for the Society’s Rest Hut at the Gore Show.
