THE EARL OF OXFORD
EULOGISTIC REFERENCES. HIS GRANDSON AND HEIR. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright). LONDON, January 25. Mr Asquith, until he returned" from Egypt, intended re-entering the House of Commons, but now he has decided that his health is not equal to a by-election campaign. His heir will be his grandson, as his son, Raymond Asquith, was killed in the war. The Observer, in an editorial, says that the whole country will acclaim this crowning recognition of Mr Asquith’s career. In entering the Houses of Lords it is not too much to say that he is conferring as well as receiving honour.
