DRAMA OF THE SEA
OIL TANKER LOST. ONLY ONE SURVIVOR. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable' Association.) LONDON, January 25. (Received January 25, 7.5 p.m.) Eight persons perished in the wreck of the oil tanker Red Line in a hurricane off the Cornish coast. Hector Durragh, the mate, was the sole survivor and landed at Swansea. He said that the ship was swept by seas and filled rapidly. She was sinking when rockets drew the attention of the Swansea trader Therese. The crew stood to their posts until the captain shouted “Abandon ship, every man tor himself!” The Red Line was then at an angle of 60 degrees. The crew with life belts dived and made for the Therese.
Only Durragh reached her. One of the crew sank as the search light was thrown on his face.
