WEDNESDAY’S POLICE COURT CONVICTIONS. To the Editor. Sir, —I am in the habit of sending your valued paper to my friends in the Home Country. The result is that they have a very favourable opinion of our town and its citizens. Yesterday’s .issue, however, somewhat staggers me, and I positively refuse to post it—with its vast catalogue of criminals —to any area outside the Limehouse district of London. The fact that thirty—or was it three hundred?—(being busy, I asked my typist to do the counting) citizens were convicted suggests a question. Are the Police over-active, or are we overlegislated? I had looked forward to rather a jolly evening with my fellow Scots. —I am, etc., ABSORBED. January 23 [The Police are to be commended for their activity in bringing the motorists into line.
