WEATHER IN SYDNEY

STORM ON TUESDAY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). <Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, December 24. The fierce southerly buster which swept over Sydney did considerable damage to property in many of -the suburbs. In several cases roofs were lifted into the air and carried a considerable distance. Trees were uprooted, and big windows blown out. From almost perfect calm the velocity of the wind rose to about 40 miles an hour, and squalls were registered up to 50 miles an hour. Several people were more or less seriously injured by falling roofs and debris. Many narrow escapes were reported. The harbour ferry services were disorganised, and the small vessels were unable to leave port. The telegraph lines were seriously affected The services with Melbourne and Adelaide are 8 to 10 hours behind time.
