SERIOUS FLOODS
AUSTRALIAN VISITATION. WHEAT AREA UNDER WATER. (By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, November 9. (Received November 9, 7.5 p.m.) Rain, which continued during the night, caused serious floods. Many narrow escapes are recorded. Torrential rains yesterday covered portions of the wheat area where the crops have been levelled, and serious damage to grain is anticipated. Bathurst and Dubbe report that the lower portions of the towns are under water. The rivers are rising rapidly in many MELBOURNE, November 9. Floods are reported over a wide area, and there have been many washaways on the railway. The floods were accompatvefl by cyclonic winds.
