The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Thornbury Sale Yards Company, was held in the Public Hall on Wednesday evening, Mr G. Carmichael presided.. The following report was submitted to the meeting : The directors have pleasure in presenting their sixth annual statement. As a result of the year’s operations there is shown an actual profit of £lO 19/5, which no doubt would have been larger but for the fluctuations and uncertainties of the stock market However stock prices have improved considerably in the last few weeks so the Company can reasonably look forward to a better year. The property and yards are in first-class order and should fulfil their purpose for many years without much additional expense. The retiring directors,. Messrs Fallow, Mclntyre and Riddle were re-elected. Mr G. Carmichael was re-elected Chairman and Mr E. B. Patrick auditor. Instructions were issued for minor repairs to be carried out at the yards. MOSGIEL WOOLLEN COMPANY. SATISFACTORY YEAR EXPERIENCED. The directors of the Mosgiel Woollen Factory Company (Ltd.), in submitting the 51st annual balance-sheet, express the opinion that they are justified in congratulating shareholders on the satisfactory result of the year’s work. Difficulty has been experienced during the trading of the year more than for some years past, owing to the competition of woollen goods which have been imported at abnormally low values. The directors are, however, able to recommend the payment of a further dividend of 4 per cent, and a bonus of 2 per cent., which, with the interim dividend of 4 per cent, paid in May, makes 10 per cent, for the year. After £5OOO has been written off for depreciation, £5OOO added to reserves, and provision made for income tax, the profit and loss accounts shows a balance of £15,000 available for appropriation. After £5723 has been provided to meet the proposed dividend and bonus, there remains a sum of £9280 to be carried forward. THE SHAREMARKET. YESTERDAY’S TRANSACTIONS. DUNEDIN, November 7.
