CHAUTAUQUA

nN AL PROGROMME OF SEASON. The last programme of the 1924 Chautauqua season was given in the Municipal Theatre last evening and formed a fitting conclusion to a season that has been full of enjoyment to those who have become imbued with the Chautauqua idea. MrBLJ. Farrant presided and briefly referred to the objects of the movement and expressed the hope that each year would see a further development of its scope. The guarantors desired to thank the public for the support given to the 1924 season of Chautauqua. While it had not quite been a success financially and the guarantors would be called upon to a small extent, they did not mind paying out a little for such a worthy cause. Last evening’s programme was quite equal to any of those given in the earlier part of the season and Miss Ziebell (violinist©) and Mias Phyllis M. Allinson (pianiste) delighted the large audience with their music. Miss Ziebeli is a talented musician and last evening played through a wide range of music with an artistry that greatly pleased her audience. Miss Allinson’s play* mg was also of a very high standard and a delicacy of touch, an artistic temperament and a fine sense of rythxn distinguished all her work. Professor D. D. Vaughan’s lecture on the “Ideals of Democracy,” was both interesting and instructive while his keen sense of humour served to niake the more serious parte of hia lecture mane palatable.
