THE PACIFIC CABLE
WORK OF DUPLICATION. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Aswxnation). LONDON, November 5. The Pacific Cable Board is preparing specifications and is shortly calling tenders for the duplication of the cable which is now so overcrowded that the Board is compelled to refuse messages. Sir James Allen says thatthe indications are for a continual growth in the use of the cable, despite wireless developments. The Australian-Canadian trade agreement will mean heavier demands on the cable, and if Britain concedes Preference, as is expected, it should result in further Empire trade development. The Board therefore must prepare for further needs.
