GARDEN PARTY
GEORGETOWN SPORTS AREA BENEFITS. A garden party in aid of the Georgetown Sports Area was held in the picturesque grounds adjoining Mrs T. Lang’s residence in Venus street, yesterday afternoon. Complete arrangements were made for the entertainment of visitors, of whom there were a large number present, and the afternoon passed pleasantly for old and young alike. Several stalls were erected in the grounds and these all did good business, while the various competitions were also very liberally patronised. During die afternoon musical items- were contributed by the Misses W’arburton, Misses Piercy, Kerr. V. Grindlay, Mrs O. Paton, and Mr T. Lang. The stall-holders were as follows:—Mesdames A. Youngson, W. Bain, T. Daniel, C. Warburton, M. Summers, H. Lincoln, H. P. Weston, T. Lang, T. Rogerson, H. Fox, Misses A. S. Bain, Patchett, Warburton and Kerr. In the evening special attractions were provided for the children who turned out in force to see the bonfire, and to take part in the bun-eating competition, which provided a great deal of amusement for the spectators.
